The Echo of Lonliness

Did you know when you dissipate from
someone’s memory there are physical symptoms?
You can feel it starting at your feet with a tingling,
almost like you’re walking on air.

It will then move up into the center of your body
like a heavy block of emptiness that disperses into a haunting
of ink-printing movements that now run backwards.

A forgetting like the fine tuning of an FM radio
reaching out to find any sound until it just stops,
and you’re left gazing forward through eyelashes
parting ways like curtains on center stage.
